Here’s to all you hip-hop historians: 10-link synopsis of this year’s most interesting beef.

Cam’ron – “Wet Wipes” Video
Cam’ron draws first blood by featuring a Jay-Z lookalike (59-year old J.J. Evans for that matter) in his “Suck it or Not/Wet Wipes” video.

Cam’ron – You Gotta Love It
Cam strikes again. Jay-Z responds on the HP Commercial (“This game is over, I wonder if he knows.”) Cam strikes again via Yung Joc’s “It’s Goin’ Down (Remix).”

Jim Jones – “Alarm”
Jimmy picks up where Cam left off, after hearing that Jay-Z was about to come out of his fake retirement to try and resuscitate NY hip-hop.

Jay announces on Funk Flex’s that Jimmy is like the 9th guy on a team, the heckler.

Acknowledging Jones’ presence was only the genesis of Jay’s dilemma.

Dame Dash + Jim Jones – Kingdom Done
Apparently, Dame Dash wasn’t too pleased with Jay’s allegations on “Lost One.”

Jay-Z – “Brooklyn High”
Like he did with Nas’ “Got Yourself a Gun,” Hov jacks Jim Jones’ “We Fly High (Ballin’)” beat and hands Jimmy his ass on a plate. Only this time he was going at a business savvy, success-hungry artist.

Capo takes advantage of Jay’s generosity and gets himself some extra BDS.

Cam’ron – You Must Not Know
Cam attempts to finish what he started by dropping a dis on the same day Jay dropped Kingdom Come.

Jay-Z – “Dig a Hole”
Meanwhile, Kingdom Come features this solid response to Dipset and Dame Dash. Plus, the one line that would forever haunt Cam’s career: “Only time you went plat my chain was on your neck.”

    Yep it’s weird when one looks at how Jay treated Cam and is still treating Cam’ like he’s acknowledging Jimmy but not Cam’ it makes you wonder. I do believe it’s cos’ Jimmy is actually selling, is more visible as far as the ‘streets’ go, Cam’ not really. Plus, you will agree that more folks now would’ve copped KC off the strength of the beef. So in the end I don’t think it only worked for Jimmy I really think Jay used this as strategy to get into Jimmy’s demographic. I mean who’s to say that kids who adore Capo’ won’t be like, “lemme cop that old man’s album and see how it’s like?”

    Just my conspiracy theory.

    Riding the wave of a strong performance at the recent American Music Awards and an unprecedented “Hangar Tour,” which included seven shows in less than 24 hours in Atlanta, Philadelphia, DC, New Jersey, Chicago, L.A. and Las Vegas, Jay-Z will finally be seeing the fruits of his labors once next week’s charts are released.

    Apparently the “Mike Jordan of recording” can still ball, with sales of his latest disc projected to reach 850,000 units by next week!!!, according to HitsDailyDouble.com. Jigga’s totals would clearly beat out the old record for the year held by the Rascal Flatts, who debuted with 714,000 records sold in their first week on shelves this past April.

    ^^^ Rizoh, RU serious U never heard of this cat?? JR is a Dipset affiliate. He’s well-regarded in NYC esp. after the big local street & radio hit he had with “Grill ‘Em.” He’s very lyrical, great flow (similar to Cam when he’s trying in a lot of ways), 1/2 latino (I believe) and prolly one of the better MC’s in the Dips.

    ‘Dig a Hole’ kinda sucked when you really listened to it. Flow wasn’t very attractive and it was way general… and boring almost. Also. The point that Cam never went plat without Roc was made mute since Killa Season easily went plat… and that was way before Jay responded, which makes Jay look stupid with either math or facts (which Cam’s pointed out).

    The fact that Cam has brung his whole team from rags to riches and success also stands as a big point for Cam. Compared to Jay who you could say either abandoned or had his crew commit mutiny on him. Speaks a lot to the streets and anyone who cares for honor and respect.

    Lyrically, no damn doubt Jay is way better than any of these dudes. Check out that one freestyle… Jay still lyrically at his prime. But the freestyle rabbles on about general stuff. Not specific enough to really make a point IMO.

    So for those reasons, overall I see Jay losing this.
