Rizoh, not sure if UR being sarcastic or not but I have an actual physical copy of the magazine and the main color scheme for the text is much more orange and less “pastel” in color than in your scan.

I imagine orange still wouldn’t make it look good but at least better than this.

I’ve been a huge critic of The Source forever but I have to admit it’s actually gotten a lot better in the past few issues. They still hv hella financial issues which makes it challenging for them to get the best writers in the book but it’s worth giving a second chance to if you’ve been ignoring it for a while.

This issue has decent pieces of Ghost, Monch, Clipse, Game and Young Buck and a really good piece on the Blood Gang movement plus their indie artist coverage has gotten WAY better. Their only major screw-up recently was giving Jay-Z’s album 4.5 mics but people were complaining about the ratings back when the magazine was at its peak anyway.

And seriously, the cover looks fine (albeit a little busy).

(BTW: In case anyone’s wondering, I have no connection to The Source other than I do know some of the cats who work there but I know how easy it is for something to become orthodoxy on the net ‘cos a few people say it so I wanted to offer an alternate view to the prevailing “The Source is wack” argument that is routinely put out there.)

Honestly, I haven’t read The Source since that Don’t Fuck with Texas issue, and that’s just because my man Matt Sonzala hooked it up real nice. I dunno man, am I missing anything? Ian, what’s good with the source?

That Texas issue was actually pretty terrible still IMHO. The quality’s def. better than that now and still going back up, I swear. They still got a little way to go before they’re back at the full level of their glory days but I’d say it’s worth f-cking with again. It’s at least as good as XXL now (altho’ that ain’t saying much considering how mcuh they’ve fallen off). Hit a B&N some time, skim thru an issue and you tell me what you think tho’….

Ian, I liked the Texas issue, so don’t hate. j/k. I’ll peep it if you say so.

Frank, I’ve been saying that the whole year. Glad someone else agrees.

Maybe, but the copy I have is not that color. He may just be using the same jpeg Rizoh is.

I’d say print is on life support. They can’t f-ck with blogs & websites for breaking news stuff but magazines still seem to be the first word on in-depth investigative and feature length journalism. That stuff’s not only hard to read online but I’m not aware of sites who are doing better stuff in this area than the magazines are but I wouldn’t swear to it.
