  The idea that “evil” is equated with darkness or the color black likely predates the modern concept of race and racism but that association between color and behavior/morality was almost certainly applied to the encounters between light-skinned Europeans and darker people from Africa, Asia and the Americas.

  So no, I don’t think the symbiote Spiderman suit is racist in the same way, say, Bull Connor or Strom Thurmond was racist but I do think the fact that, when he dons the suit, he becomes more aggressive and more violent certainly seems to share much in common with historical and contemporary stereotypes that equate things like aggression and violence with Blackness.

  I think this video is indeed a lame attempt at trying to be snarky and clever in a post-Imus moment but the idea that race and color are related is pretty fucking obvious. Or at least, should be.
