It takes a song of this magnitude to bring me out of my birthday break.

Good to see Hovi back in double entendre mode. “Roc Boys” is definitely a winner. Imagine if Beans, Bleek, and Free hopped on a remix.

the hitmen got alot of this good production in hip hop going in the first place….and it looks like Jay is about to put this bullshit rap in it’s place

  • Purpose

I guess I just cant see how this wouldn’t meet any standard people set.

Especially because this clearly wasn’t meant to sell records (although obviously he wants to sell them). This doesn’t sound nearly as formulaic as so many of his previous projects.

LOL at your scratching Bleek off. Bleek would be cool. I could see Kanye doing a verse if there was a remix

@Purpose: you know the fabric that creates Jay-hate is typically void of any sort of objectivity and pretty much stems from a jealousy, a wish that the haters fav rapper would take Jay’s place…when it’ll more than likely never happen..

It’s cool tho..this song is a great song and from a lyrical perspective very impressive, like Riz said with double entendres everywhere..Jay seems to be going in that direction more so these days of late..

Happy Belated (or Happy Very Early) Birthday, Rizoh!

The track is an instant classic, and ya gotta love Kanye in the background.

for the record this is the sample that was used and the production team dug deep to find it. For the whole of the song they essentially built off the sample and did some work on it, but left it completely unchanged at the riff that appears at the end of the track. Maybe intentionally as an homage to where they got it?! Either way, when i figured it out it was a trip that’s for sure.

    anyways,the sample is:

Glen Brown: Tel Aviv Drums Recorded in the early 70′s with in Kingston Jamaica, King Tubby behind the boards… epic…

    2 re-releases out there.

    2004 Trojan Records:
    King Tubby: In Fine Style
    #TJDDD 063

    also appears on

    2005 Hot Pot Records
    Glen Brown & Friends:
    Rhythm Master Vol.1
    #HPCD 1001

    peace crate diggers…
