J Dilla Meets MLK – I Have a Dream [Thanks, khal]
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., whose impeccable dedication and unparalleled eloquence and charisma helped shape the fabric of tolerance in America, is undoubtedly one of the most important figures in modern history. King was a man of great vision, and you can’t say anything about him that hasn’t already been said. However, there’s a general perception that his advocacy was limited to the fight for racial equality. In reality, King fought not only for disenfranchised and impoverished Blacks, but for poor people of all races. He publicly criticized the Vietnam war, which led to strained relations with then president Lyndon B Johnson. In fact, when King was assassinated on 4/4/68, while standing on a motel balcony, he was in Memphis to support striking city sanitation workers.
In his most famous speech, “I Have a Dream,” MLK pronounced, “I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.”
If Dr. King was alive today, which of the presidential candidates would attract his support?
