Murakami, the Japanese artist behind Kanye’s Graduation cover and “Good Morning” video, is a graffiti fan. The Museum of Contemporary Art put up a billboard in L.A. to promote a Murakami exhibition. But some street artist had other plans. He tagged the billboard and snapped pictures of it. Two days later, the billboard mysteriously disappeared, sparking all kinds of rumors. Turns out that Murakami himself liked the tagged version so much that he had it removed and shipped back to his studio in Japan. According to L.A. Weekly, a Murakami rep said he “found it so wonderful that he had to have it for his collection.”
