Superman

View Comments 16 February 2008

Dwight “Superman” Howard, who got robbed last year in my opinion, took slam-dunking to a new height tonight. His Superman “dunk” was way better in rehearsal, but his other dunks were creative as hell. Obviously Gerald Green didn’t stand a chance, because Howard had plenty of momentum on his side. To be sure, Green’s cupcake dunk was phenomenal. Overall, this has to be one of the most entertaining slam dunk contests of our generation.

  2. yoyo says:

  3. RAE says:

not only did he not dunk that, he jumped from a foot inside the free throw line and still couldnt make it.

  4. Rizoh says:

Give him some credit. For a big man, he’s pretty light on his feet.

  5. Fivefold says:

Y’all a buncha haters, for real!

  6. khal says:

lol you guys are funny. “he jumped from h ere” “it wasn’t a dunk” – did you see how he was damn near parallel to the hoop? what about his first dunk, from behind the backboard? or the one where he tipped the ball with one hand off the backboard then slammed it with the other? howard MURDERED the competition last night! green’s bday cake was an ill dunk, but it was his first an d best – howard was just TOO creative last night.

  7. Hip Hop made me do it says:

By definition, it was not a dunk. You have to touch the rim and Dwight Howard did not do that.

Was it creative? Yes it was and it was one of the best dunk contests in recent memory.

I do agree that overall Dwight did deserve the slam dunk trophy.

  8. Rizoh says:

It was supposed to be fun and creative. Howard had the most creative set of dunks, that’s why I voted for him.

  9. Rizoh says:

Green should’ve saved the birthday cake for last.

Examples of dunks not touching rim that I can remember:

    Trevor Ariza

Vince (dunk near the end of the commercial)

    More Vince (watch his technique)

If you can easily dunk…why hurt your fingers? ;-)

Howard slaughtered them creatively with the exception of the Birthday cake which definitely should’ve been a last dunk.

I thought this was a hip hop blog.

Anyway, dude is so tall his forehead hits the net when he walks under it. This isn’t impressive.

  12. G.money says:

that superman shit was the worst to me…

and gerald green hops is ridiculous…

dwight deserved to win but still that nigga like 7 foot…

    G. Green hops > dwight howard

  13. Vulture says:

    Say,
I thought this was Rizoh’s blog. And I don’t know if you’ve heard about hip hop culture or not, but basketball is pretty popular and a lot of ballers get shouted out in songs. Some whack rapper is definitely going to compare some lame verse of his to a superman dunk.

  14. Rizoh says:

Do I even need to respond to that? Didn’t Dwight Howard say he got his idea from Souljah Boy’s song?

  15. esbee says:

Dwight’s supermand dunk gave him the momentum he needed..he undoubtedly deserved it..

Fun to watch from start to finish honestly..

  16. Say says:

Vulture, hip hop and basketball are not synonymous.

  17. Vulture says:

    Say,
they don’t exist in a vacuum either. See Rizoh’s comment.
Besides, it’s a fun and amusing video. No one forced you to watch it, and I usually enjoy Riz’s off topic posts. Dude’s got a good sense of humor. That’s kind of why I read his blog actually.
