According to this guy, Polow da Don made Usher’s “Love in This Club” beat with garageband.

Polow responds:

“That’s not where I got them from, but they’re definitely in there,” Polow said of the sounds used in “Love in This Club”. There’s this keyboard I have that a lot of sounds come in.”

and…

“If a ten-year-old can make “Love in This Club” and save Usher’s career and make black women want to f*ck him again, after they was done with him for getting married, then sh*t he’s a genius just like me,” Polow said. “I also wrote the hook – that’s not a preset.”

    What bar? The song is the biggest record since “Umbrella” – it’s a smash. If you like the song what do you care where the sounds in it came from? From my pov Polow is actually a friggin’ genius for making a hit record using stock sounds like that. Its a testament to him that he was the first to see the vision and make it happen.

    Its genius that he made a smash hit from stock sounds, yes. Or conversely, if it was that easy, someone else would have done it ages ago. But they didn’t, he did. So all props due. I bet some of your favorite reords from cats like Just Blaze, Premo, Pete Rock and Dilla are straight loops off of records. Loops off of records or from production software sound packs: what’s the difference? Stop hatin’, Rizoh. And to answer your question, yes I would have called any no-namer who would have done this beat a genius too. I’m so far from a Polow groupie, it’s silly.
