TRU regular Walter saw the boys from Philly last night and loved it.
Peep his brief account of the show below.

“So I went to the Roots concert at CMU in Pittsburgh last night, and DAMN, The Roots are f*cking great live! The whole crowd was hyped the entire concert (which lasted ~2 and a half hours), and I’ve never seen so many white people like rapping along to any rapper.

Even though all of them were pretty decent performers, the guy on the tuba (they called him Tuba Gooding, Jr.) was the show-stealer. He’s running across the stage, jumping across the stage and into the crowd, all while holding (and playing!) a tuba…it was dope.

?uestlove was great as always, and Captain Kirk was NASTY on the guitar…

My only complaint was that near the end of the concert, they rapped up as if they were really ending it, but they didn’t, and went on to play like 4 more songs…they were dope, but I guess my mind had already gotten into “leave concert and go get drunk” mode, so I wasn’t really feelin’ it.

That said, their renditions of other artists’ songs were better than the originals, IMO.”

Sounds like another classic Roots performance to me.

    Damn, good looks, Rizoh!

If I knew you were going to do that, I would’ve given a better play-by-play…

I’m not sure if they’re doing this for every university that they’re playing at, but the concert at CMU was free thanks to some fee we pay at the beginning of the year…it was also outside on a stage, so that was nice…I’m going to put up like an official rundown of how the concert was this weekend, when I finally have time.
