Rock City – “No Air” (Remix)

I like how the “sureshot” dude at Iced Media was gracious enough to append instructions to the blast for this song: “If you don’t know about them yet don’t be a sucker and wait until EVERY other blogger and site is f*ckin’ wit them!”

I understand where he’s coming from, because it’s always tough for PR folks to get people to peep relatively unknown artists while they’re still relatively unknown. But why throw everyone in the same boat? If he took the time to research the targetted tastemakers, maybe he would’ve noticed that The Rap Up, for instance, is known for showing love to under-the-radar artists moreso than the established MCs.

Oh, in case you’re wondering about R.City, they’re Akon’s weed carriers trying to jumpstart a career by touting their credentials as Akon’s backup singers. Nothing wrong with that, it’s the way of the music industry. The song is decent, by the way.

yo don’t hate on Rock City cuz their PR guy is a dick. They are this sick up and coming group – they do their own stuff and remix a load of different material. I discovered them like a month ago, and since then, have tried to DL everything that comes out. Loving the island feel with the deep lyrics and awesome harmonizing!
Keep doing ya thing R. City!

I got the same email Riz, but if Sureshot. looked at my site he would see I’m a strickly HipHop site. (Hence the name, ImHiphop)and I dont post R&B.
like you said He needs to take the time and research who he is sending what to. Cause i’m not going to post it regardless.
    (Unless its a Hiphop remix)

They’re not R&B cats though. They’re more dancehall/reggae influenced than anything else. Is “Losing it” their “Love in the club” remix? If that’s the one I have it on one of my mixtapes I make for myself from time to time..I dare say it was a way better song imo than the original itself but that’s me.

Its sad though that new artists have to go to diff lengths from a PR standpoint just for bloggers and media folks to pay attention to them. TRU is one of the few that do as is HHIR, BGDB, ML and a few others out there.

And Rizoh I can’t cosign on calling them weedcarriers- they wrote on Usher’s new album and wrote the first single for the Pussycat Dolls new album. They definitely getting they own checks!

Shot, Considering your self hip hop and being hip hop is two completely things. I listend to the song, its nice, but it wouldnt make sense for me to post them, when i havent posted Usher, kieth sweat, Solange or Mary J,and countless other R&B artist.

They tight, but until you send me something with “16 bars of pain”, they wont get posted on my site.

and this I don’t think you want my audience to gather their impression of them from this song. its a nice album filler but nothing I would think someone would release as a single.

Ps. And my fault Riz for conducting my site business on your site, I mean no disrespect just wanted to leave my opinion for Sure.

try to check out what they do on other songs other than no air. I hafta say I thought that this was their worst remix I’ve seen so far. They’re remixed “a millie” (weezy), “no matter what” (T.i.), “no air” (as stated), “bed” (j. holiday), “flashing lights” (ye), “say goodbye” (old chris brown), “I’m so hood” (dj khaled), and “love in this club” (ush). But I also have sum originals – from the rock, secret, 2 the floor, in the dancehall, last day, and losing it. As you can see, they really come from everywhere – its almost reggae/reggaeton/rap/r&b/hip hop. If you already passed then by, I’d just suggest taking another look, cuz they really branch into every genre.

@ B rad : dont tell me they hip-Hop smoothed out on the R&B tip, with a pop appeal, lol

come on ya’ll i said they were tight, what else you want me to do,lol?
