It’s taken me a few days to gather my thoughts on Tim Russert’s death, because I’m still in utter shock. Tim’s unrivaled passion for politics and history helped me understand issues better. As a 26-year old thirsty for knowledge, he was one of the few heads I looked up to for both journalistic inspiration and political education. There’s a handful of real-time historians left in mainstream media, but like Adisa pointed out, they’re all in the same “age bracket” as Tim. Such a terrible loss, man. Meet the Press will never be the same. Political journalism will never be the same.

Tim’s death also reminds me that all the writers, bloggers, journalists out there need to take better care of their health. Many of us have erratic sleep habits. We need to practice better health habits. Tim Russert died on his desk, doing what he loved.

Rest in Power, Tim. You’ll be terribly missed.

He was one of the few good mainstream ones. I think Chris Matthews is decent, but in general alternative news is the only place with real journalism now days.

democracy now (democracynow.org), and ZMag/Znet come to mind.

Whenever you saw him on TV it seemed like you knew him.

He was just about the only person I trusted on TV, especially those hard-nosed sunday interviews. Such is life.
