Ice T vs Soulja Boy: Guess Who Kanye’s Riding With?

I’ve been trying to ignore this whole Ice T vs. Soulja Boy brouhaha for a while, but it just won’t go away. In case you’re just returning from vacation overseas, the beef started when Ice T remarked that Soulja Boy “single-handedly killed hip-hop” in addition to telling him to “eat a d*ck.” Soulja Boy deferred to his usual response to older rappers, “N*gga you old as hell…you was born before the Internet was made…” Actually, I’m not doing Soulja Boy’s response any justice. He straight-up ethered Ice T. (Watch all the videos below.)

Kanye West weighed in on the beef via his blog yesterday. You won’t believe who he’s riding with on this one.

Says Kanye West:

“Soulja boy is fresh ass hell and is actually the true meaning of what hip hop is sposed to be. He came from the hood, made his own beats, made up a new saying, new sound and a new dance with one song. He had all of America rapping this summer. If that ain’t Hip Hop then what is? A bunch of wannabe keep it real rappers that ain’t even relevant, recycling samples trying to act like it’s 96 again and all they do is hate on new shit? Niggas always talk about the golden age but for a 13 year old kid, this is the golden age!!! That song was so dope cause everything he said had a hidden meaning… that’s Nas level shit… he just put it over some steel drums which is also some Nas shit if you had the 2nd album cassette with the bonus track “Silent Murder” on it. In closing… new niggas get ya money$$$$$$$$$$ Keep this shit fresh and original…. ain’t no fuckin’ rules to this shit and that’s what real hip hop is to me”

As for me, I’m not riding with anyone in this case for 3 reasons:
1) This is such an unevenly matched-up beef it’s not even funny;
2) Neither Soulja Boy nor Ice T is relevant in my world right now;
3) I’m all about a battle, what the f*ck is “beef”?
