Yup, it’s official. The Roots will indeed be Jimmy Fallon’s house band when he takes over The Late Night Show come 2009. It’ll be interesting to see what type of impact (if any) this will have on the Roots’ touring schedule. A couple years ago when I asked ?uestlove how long he thought the Roots had left as a group, he made it clear that they’d be touring well into their 70s: “Rich [Nichols] thinks we have four more relevant records in us, before we become the Neville Brothers or the Rolling Stones of hip-hop.”
At any rate, this is a good look for hip-hop’s greatest band.
