Welcome to the Obama Era, where you’re required to follow a strict code of conduct in accordance with the new image of urban youth under President Obama. That means: no jeans, no neck tattoos, no hoodies, and no belt buckles wider than 12 inches. Welcome to a world where “hoe” will once again mean a farming tool used for digging the soil. Oh, and you know those soft-porn ads that constitute half the pages in The Source magazine? You can kiss them goodbye as well.

The Source has placed a moratorium on booty ads, Ladies and Gentlemen.

Says Londell McMillan, Publisher of The Source in a press release:

“It’s time the Hip-Hop industry stop advertising junk and be more responsible about what we sell to our readers. The Source has been much more selective about what we put in our magazine and created higher standards since we’ve changed ownership. We owe it to our readers and the parents who don’t want their children reading about the latest porn sites and seeing booty ads in the back of the magazine.”

“While we realize we are taking a major risk, we want to gain larger more corporate mainstream advertising, and believe we can. There’s a lot of major corporations that want hip-hop but don’t want the filth that goes along with it.”

Reminds me of that time BET pulled booty ads probably because booty ads were too intelligent for their audience.

wtf though.. I understand they rely on their readers but what if their readers want to see booty ads.. I know I’d rather see that than any other ad.

This why America is in the situation its in. Nobody wants to be responsible for themselves. Cats wanna act with class because Obama is in office. Why didn’t you do that before? Cats were not feeling Bill Cosby because he kept it 100% without a glorious speech.
