With no more concertgoers left to rip off, MF Doom is now keeping busy with a new album allegedly titled Born Like This, due on March 24 via Lex Records. No one knows whether Doom intends to rap on any of the songs or if Dr. Seuss will be filling in for the Masked One.

Everything from the album artwork to its tracklist has become a source of utter confusion. Oh, and did I mention that the title is Born Like This or Born Into This, depending on what day of the week it is?

    No, it wasn’t, unless it was done before Dilla’s passing. “Produced” does not mean “has a beat by,” believe it or not. Watch producers work – non hip hop or other wise – and see what a producer does.

    While hiphop has brought a lot of credit to producers that most people wouldn’t give otherwise, to assume that all they do is make beats is so shitty, it kills me.

    I know YOU didn’t list the track as such, Riz, I’m just saying. It’s a pet peeve.

    Nah, I feel you on that. It boggles my mind whenever I see “Produced by Dilla” on a song when all the artist did was rap over a Dilla beat.

    PS – what IS the deal with lightworks? i ask because its been said that DOOM and Dilla were working on shit from time to time for some project. Now, on DONUTS, we had 2 cuts that ended up on Fishscale… could it be that Lightworks really WAS intended for DOOM?

They could’ve made these songs and decided to scrap em but then once dilla dies doom brings out the old tracks he did with dilla (even though they may suck) just to capitalize of dilla’s passing . its sad really. Its just like madlib he’s lost more instrumentals in his blunt shelter than he has actually put out. so think about it fellas.

    everyone that’s bitchin bout how you can’t produce from the grave is retarded. if you really listen to hip hop, you might be familiar with… J Dilla? and that lightworks is a beat he made way back in 06 for DONUTS. that beat is classic. anyway ill back dilla on PRODUCING that but MCs really need to stop reusing dilla beats. dilla beats will always be dilla tracks no matter who rhymes over em. i mean they’re better than doom beats but people rhymin over these beats it sounds like a damn remix and sounds like dilla didnt intend for it. doom fuck your solo albums go back to makin full albums with real PRODUCERS like madlib jakeone dangermouse whoever. yall need to listen to real hip hop too. everyone heres too into the “image” of underground hip hop. i know you listen to lil wayne and 50 in your car. Underground hip hop is the only type of true hip hop music.

    Well to everyone complaining about them putting “produced by J.Dilla” on lightworks… who the hell is supposed to get the credit for the beat if not the person that made it. Dead or alive your credit is due at all times.

    all good points.. but as an artist who uses dilla beats on the regular.. and puts (Produced by J-Dilla).. its the most obvious way to shout out a producer you respect and admire..
    not because im trynna get brownie points off his name like i did a song with him.. because a beat is just as important as vocals and people should know who to give credit for the other half of my song.. lol.. and mf doom is the fucking shit.. complex grimey barz.. much respect
