The World’s Most Dangerous Site reported this afternoon that a Nigerian-Canadian journalist and apparent hip-hop aficionado is calling for a ban on Killa Cam’s new album: Crime Pays. Omololu Olunloyo, the editor of the Canadian hip hop site, HipHossip.com, is apparently also looking to see the artist banned from touring at Canadian venues. The article summed up the argument:

Although many fans have been receptive to the recent social commentary in Cam’Ron’s music (“I Hate My Job”), Olunloyo argues that the former Dipset leader misleads youth with an album title that glorifies violence.

“Toronto is now my home. It’s much safer than in the United States and I don’t want that to change,” Olunloyo explained to The Sun. “I love Hip-Hop. Children imitate things. They will follow what they see. They want to be like children in the U.S. who have a gun.”

This is a great first step. If only someone in the United States would stop these rappers from handing out guns to local children, maybe we wouldn’t be in this situation in the first place. Also, from what I have heard, each copy of Crime Pays actually comes with a free handgun and illustrated instructions.

Did you really just make that up? The album’s inlay doesn’t include anything like that. Come on…..in the words of Mark Jackson (NBA TV Analysis) “you’re better than that.”
