xxl-coverLast night, I realized that there is really nothing new about these guys anymore. When you consider mixtapes, touring before you have a single, and (yes, Freeway) the blogosphere, your average rapper who is getting any kind of play can stop using the term freshmen after just a few months. But since the summer is here, that means that the school year is officially over, and when we come back in the fall, you’re in class with the big boys. So go ahead and drop your album on the same day as Hov and 50; you’re not a freshmen anymore.

That being said, let’s not start making our way for the new class just yet, because there is just a little more hazing to do. Let’s give out the year-end awards for the first-year (or so) standouts who actually passed a test or two this year, then maybe we can stop calling these people freshmen.

Best frat choice – Kid Cudi (G.o.o.d. Music) and Ace Hood (Khaled and Crew)
Highest overall GPA – Mickey Factz and Charles Hamilton (Smart bars)
Most Likely to reach Iconic status – Wale (People swear by him even outside of the DMV)
Best Hair – Ace Hood (Uh?)
Best Smile – Corey Gunz & Drake (Ladies love ‘em)
Most likely to do something stupid while school is out – Ace Hood
Most school spirit – Asher Roth (He’s really happy to be here)
Worst attendance award – Blu (where are you?)
Hardest working – Corey Gunz (Tuesdays with Corey)
Most fitting comparison – B.o.B. (he sounds A LOT like Andre sometimes)
Most likely to do their next single with T-pain – Ace Hood & Asher Roth (Just makes sense)
Most likely to skip the class reunion – Charles Hamilton
Most likely to quit rap for a while – Charles Hamilton and Kid Cudi (Can’t you see one of them pullin’ a Ma$e)
Most likely to achieve crossover fame with television or movies (not including Drake) – Wale & Mickey Factz
Most likely to have a better year next year – Curren$y & B.o.B. (Drop an album?)
Most likely to succeed (financially) – Drake

Curren$y did put out an album, unless you mean with a major label.

    What is an Ace Hood?

I can see Charles Hamilton doing a lot of things… dropping the mic… wandering onto a busy highway with a “good bye” note in his pocket… (annoyingly and in lackluster fashion) taking up Lupe Fiasco’s “weirdo with potential” spot… oh, wait, did he do that last one already?

Ace Hood had the Itunes “Song of the week” a few weeks ago.

Despite the fact that I have 12,000 songs in my library, shuffle picks up on “Loco Wit the Cake” twice a day….

I really need to delete that
