The Internet was treated to a Kanye’s We Were Once A Fairytale video, which was directed by Spike Jonze. And then, almost as quickly as it appeared, the video vanished from Kanye’s blog. YouTube videos were replaced by that unsightly “video has been removed by user” message. No explanation was offered.

In an interview with The New York Times, Spike Jonze said that the clip you were drooling over was actually an unfinished version that leaked from the post-production facility of a friend. Basically, Ye had no idea.

“I think he was like, ‘Oh, it’s out. I’ll link to it’,” says Jonze.

Well, Spike wasn’t too happy about it. “This is the first time it’s happened to me and it is a weird feeling, like, ‘Wait a second – I wasn’t ready to put that out!’” he added. “‘That’s mine!’ Uh, no. I guess it’s not mine anymore.”

We Were Once A Fairytale will get its official release on iTunes next Tuesday, October 27.

I liked it a lot. I bet Yeezy’s had his fair share of nights just like that. I wonder which parts they were still gonna work on. I hope the ending gets cleaned up a little. It was fine, just too out of nowhere and overly full of itself in how metaphorical it was being. It’s fine to do that just do it more on the concept of the concept and less on the concept itself.
