What do you ask for on your birthday if you’re LeBron James, undoubtedly the 2nd best player in the NBA? Let’s see, how about a W? LeBron turned 25 yesterday as the Cavs took on the high-flying Atlanta Hawks. Bron went for — surprise, surprise — a season-high 48 Points on a sizzling 15-23 shooting and 10 Rebounds. Oh yeah, guess who had a go-ahead 3-pointer as the shot clock expired with the game on the line? Did you guess LeBron? Nice try. No, it was Anderson Varejao. Yes! The dude that looks more like a tennis player than a baller had his first career trey on LeBron’s birthday. Watch Mike Brown run a 3-pt play for Varejao in the playoffs.
See recap video under the hood.
It’s LeBron’s birthday, so let’s break out the birthday cliches. Shaq fed him an alley-oop. Then it was Birthday boy’s turn to served up his teammates. He dished 6 dimes to go along with 2 nasty blocks to prevent the Hawks from crashing the party. Best of all, Varejao gave him a birthday present he’ll never forget – a big trey that proved vital down the stretch. Phew! I feel purged.
Keep it up, Bron Bron. At this rate, you just might luck out and get a $23 million contract from Houston come 2010.
