After being entangled in legal f*ckery for a long time the estate of James ‘Dilla’ Yancey is finally back on track. There’s a new website which services as a contact point for anything officially involving Dilla’s name (j-dilla.com) and even the J Dilla Foundation is newly established and ready to help underpriviliged children who are musically gifted but unable to explore their talent due to poverty.

The legal trouble surrounding Dilla’s estate was one of the more saddening tales of the music industry of recent years so it’s good to hear the smoke has now cleared around this unsettling business and that the new lawyers are actually working together with Dilla’s family. Maureen ‘Ma Dukes’ Yancey had this to say:

“It’s awesome to not only have things back on the right track, but to have people who are really in your corner. I’m just blown away by the past few years, and working doubly hard to get things corrected, it drives you. It’s wonderful.”
