Happy Birthday to James Dewitt Yancey, one of the greatest sound architects of all time. He would’ve been 36 today. Here’s a question for Jay Dee fans: If you had to pick one Dilla beat to rap over, which would you pick?

    For me, I’d say either “Waves” or “Two Can Win”. And even though The Roots technically beat me to it with “Can’t Stop This”, in a perfect world i’d choose “Time: The Donuts of the Heart”

    Easy question to answer surprisingly.
    Off of Phat Kat’s Dedication To The Suckers 12″
    The song Microphone Master. Too dope.
    But Untitled Fantastic from Slum, Wordplay from Tribe & Heat from Common all deserve honorable mention because I thought of them before I remembered the Phat Kat joint.
