Vampire Weekend’s sophomore album, Contra, has enjoyed plenty of burn here lately. Aside from a striking similarity to the group’s debut that betrays a reluctance to explore new soundscapes, it’s a brilliant album. Seeing RZA make a cameo in the music video for “Giving Up The Gun” has now magnified my appreciation for Contra. Lil Jon also appears in the clip as a token of gratitude for the name check on “Oxford Comma.”
