The 5th installment of Madlib’s Medicine Show is History of the Loop Digga: 1990-2000 (the CDP Archive). Back in the 90s a producer’s “beat tape” was exactly that: a cassette tape full of beats that a producer made either for himself or for potential collaborators. Madlib made a bunch of these back in the days while lacing beats for his Quasimoto. This collection of beats showcases Madlib’s early sound, punctuated with a series of old solo cuts by Madlib as well as his alter ego, Quasimoto. No. 5 also comes with Benjamin Marra’s comic book for the album about the fictional 90s-era Rapper X who goes on a vengeful cop-killing rampage. A must-have for Madlib fans.
