I’m officially closer to my quest to see every MC in my Top 10 live, after witnessing Nas‘ monstrous concert with Damian Marley on Tuesday night. The duo brought its collaborative LP Distant Relatives to a capacity crowd in Houston and what a party that was. I started off the night on a bad note, what with the doorman insisting that I toss my pen. I was like, “Dude, who am I gonna stab with a damn pen? Nas?” Everyone who knows me personally knows I have nothing short of admiration for Esco’s body of work. Now if this was a Gucci Mane show, the doorman’s concern would be justified. Anywho, after arguing with that bag of douche for 20 minutes, his superior finally let me in.
The show had its highs and lows; most of the highs stemmed from Nas being too high to focus on his performance. My review is up on the Houston Press site. Check it out.
