Floyd “Money” Mayweather Jr. lost a round outside of the ring yesterday after a judge ruled he owes a Long Island management firm about $6,000 for poaching a rapper for his Philthy Rich Records label. I don’t know what’s funnier: the fact that Mayweather considers himself a music impresario or that his label is called Philthy Rich.
Anywho, Freck’s camp tried to legally extort Floyd $750,000 for breaking their contract with the rapper but a Manhattan Judge threw out the request. I got a chuckle from the checklist of expenses, including $3,490 to produce demo tapes, $322 to rent a boat in Miami for a video shoot, and $111 bill at a Red Lobster.
The New York Post is reporting that Mayweather never answered the suit against him and didn’t bother sending any lawyers to the hearing. That’s pretty much a “fuck you” to Freck.
Floyd and Freck have been firing shots back and forth over the contract situation. Here’s what Floyd told Allhiphop.com in an interview:
“We were working with an artist named Freck Billionaire. When he came aboard we asked if he had any contracts and he said no…Come to find out he was signed with somebody. The guy was trying to sue us and Freck stole one of our watches and left. So we’ve been looking for Freck Billionaire but he’s been ducking and dodging us. He stole a diamond watch and left.”
Freck Billionaire fired back at Mayweather, calling him greedy and arrogant.
“Since you really at the bottom of your heart don’t wanna see anyone around you with anything, I’ll send a courier to you with my watch. Maybe you can use it to lure in your next victim,” Freck told AllHipHop.com.
There’s always 3 sides to every story, as they say. Freck’s manager Animal Steele’s side of the story? Mayweather gave the watch to Freck as a signing gift for joining Philthy Rich Records.
You know, we could all be watching Mayweather vs. Pacquiao right now.
