♫ J Cole – “Higher”

As always, J Cole’s got that smooth flow and his timing is on point but lyrically this joint is weak. While the instrumentals give the track a lively feel, the hook is bland and redundant. The similes are easy and figurative language is light – I’m not looking for T.S. Eliot depth with this track but it’s featherweight. This is not how legends are born.
