“They say I’m Superman, but radio says that he’s a menace. When others left the hood, he stayed to catch perfect attendance.” – Trae, “Cop A Drop”

“Cop A Drop,” the lead cut from Trae’s Can’t Ban Tha Truth mixtape, made its debut this morning via the Houston Press website. Two years ago, it would have made its debut via radio, specifically Houston’s 97.9 The Box. That you’re hearing about this song and mixtape first and exclusively through the web is indicative of the impact Radio One’s ban has had on Trae tha Truth. Trae alludes to the ban on “Cop A Drop,” which sounds like what you’d imagine a pit bull getting violated by lions in a horror flick is supposed to sound like.
