Georgia Anne Muldrow has already wowed us with her neo-Afrocentrism, not to mention her beautiful voice. Now she’s doing it with her production. Muldrow’s latest, VWETO, takes the listener on a space-funk adventure that, without a larynx in sight, relies on spectral sonics and a keen sense of musical continuity as its map. You can almost hear the narratives taking shape, building up, before finally leading up to the cinematic 7-minute “Pad Stroll.” I imagine this is what Erykah Badu would sound like if she had a bad case of laryngitis and stumbled on an MPC.

VWETO (the word means “gravity” in Swahili) is the perfect soundtrack to accompany your quest for subversive alterations of consciousness. It’s also great background music for doing homework.
