Blu has been M.I.A musically as he puts finishing touches on his Warner debut. Hardknock TV’s Huff Barili caught up with the young poet for an hourlong chat. This is the second installment of that interview. “I got gems tucked in my shit,” he says, confirming that an assault of new music will be in order soon.

Work hasn’t deterred Blu from sharing his thoughts on hip-hop. He had more opinions than you could fit in 60 minutes, discussing everything from his musical influences to his favorite Outkast album. One thing quickly becomes obvious throughout the course of the interview: Blu is a student of hip-hop. You rarely see west coast MCs bigging up southern rappers. Hit the play to catch up with Blu. It’s chock full of juicy tales.

  1. It took him 3 years I believe to make Below the Heavens and that album by today’s standards was a modern classic. It’s fine if he takes a couple of more years to perfect his album because honestly out of his XXL Freshmen class Kid Cudi, Wale, Cory Gunz and B.O.B. are the ones who remains. He doesn’t need to rush anything as long as he makes another classic album.
