Back on the campaign trail that is.
Barack received his fair share of criticism, and an unfair share on top of it as well, but he’s tossing his hat into the ring again. Yes, the stain on civilization known as Gitmo is still open, the economy still hasn’t fully recovered and it ain’t exactly quiet yet in the middle east either but Ann Dunham’s baby boy has made quite some accomplishments in providing reasonable health care for all Americans (dragging many of them kicking and screaming into the ‘socialist hell hole’ that the entire western world besides the US has been in since the larger part of the 20th century #sarcasm) and getting rid of the ridiculous ‘Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell’ policy by allowing any citizen willing to put his/her life on the line for his/her country to do so.
He’s also stabilized international politics to reasonable levels of discourse again and it seems safe to assume that he actually did make the world a little bit safer that way. At least he hasn’t been going around the globe creating new enemies and frustration in every corner.
Besides, there’s a fat chance that under a Republican president the economy wouldn’t even be (slowly) recovering as their still unchanged policies and philosophies are what actually caused the economic meltdown in the first place.
So far the GOP hasn’t appointed any potential opponents but since their most popular option is a raving lunatic I wouldn’t mind four more years of Barry’s reign, and I’d imagine my of my fellow Europeans feel the same way. Cheers B!
