It’s no longer news that Odd Future‘s Frank Ocean has been in the game for a minute. He bounced around labels for a bit before meeting Tyler, The Creator. Plus, he penned plenty of tunes for other singers and recorded a ton of music under the moniker Lonny Breaux.
The thing is, only a handful of OF fans have actually heard Frank Ocean’s early work. Well, get on your knees and thank Jebus for the Internets. The homie @iamkris24 of Marble Stoop was kind enough to gather all of Lonny Breaux tracks and zip them up in one convenient folder for curious minds.
The Lonny Breaux Collection is mostly Frank Ocean’s pre-nostalgia, ULTRA material along with some newer stuff like “Acura Integurl.” The whole thing unfolds like disparate pieces of a puzzle. You can hear the potential in his sound and the progression is evident on nostalgia/ULTRA.
It’s not an official release from Frank Ocean, but it’s music you’re going to be grateful for if you’re a fan of the singing wolf. [Dirty Laces]
Update: Frank Ocean’s response:
“alrite. alrite. let’s get this out in the open. the only songs that i, myself, frank ocean, have ever released are…’pyrite’, ‘acura integurl’ & of course the songs included on ‘nostalgia, ultra’. all other songs are on the internet as a result of record industry email hacks/leaks that happened some years back. several of these songs i had no hand in writing. i only laid reference vox on em because i was being paid. the rest are incomplete ideas, reference songs that were sent out for placement on other artists. records that were never intended to represent me. notwithstanding, i am a chill bro. as well as a sage/zen master in training. so im not angry or anything. i just had to let it at least be known. enjoy.”
