Jadakiss - I Love You

Jadakiss his status as top emcee has rarely been up for debate, but I find practically all of his albums underwhelming. The guy has top material in him and dropped some classic verses (like on Gang Starr’s Right Where U Stand for instance) but the tracks on his albums kept veering from raw shit to commercial stinker and back, each album never really gelling into a whole. Jada is much more at home on raw street anthems and I just wish he would find an A&R who would stop trying to force him to become the reincarnation of Ja Rule or some other silly shit that don’t fit.

Luckily, there’s still his mixtapes. He can be his unabridged self on those and they’re consistent reminders of why we still look forward to each project he’s set to drop, wether online or commercial. With this new tape dedicated to his fans my hopes are once again high he’ll be giving some unadulterated raw punchlines. Peep game.

1982 was when Jaap van der Doelen aka J.Monkey shot his way out his mom dukes. A mere two years later he was already battling Big Brother and The Illuminati. Whenever he has time to spare from those efforts he writes (about music, mostly), hosts a radio show and designs graphics for a living. He lives in The Netherlands where he continues to be winning.
