That dude over at About.com (ever heard of him?) put up two lists since we’re halfway through the year. It’s a solid collection of songs but there’s a chronic lack of hot sauce and it’s a bit heavy on 3.5’s, so to say. That’s no knock on the list, it just seems that most of the heavy hitters of 2011 will see their release in the second half. At least we hope so.

1982 was when Jaap van der Doelen aka J.Monkey shot his way out his mom dukes. A mere two years later he was already battling Big Brother and The Illuminati. Whenever he has time to spare from those efforts he writes (about music, mostly), hosts a radio show and designs graphics for a living. He lives in The Netherlands where he continues to be winning.

  1. Covert Coup is missing!

  2. Not enough Intelligent Trunk Music

  3. that dude is a fool for not including R.E.K.S. – easily the best album thus far.

  4. How Goblin is number 1 and Maybach as 2? Either Hip hop is really stale right now or this guy doesn’t know what he’s talking about. Goblin was a solid album it wasn’t anything more than above average. I’d put Saigon or Monch’s album before Tyler’s and MMG’s.

  5. am i the only one who knows that Rizoh and Mr. Adaso are the same person?!
