Kanye West & Jay-Z (ft. Otis Redding) – Otis

I don’t know about “inventing swag“, but Hov and Kanye definitely know how to shut down any other hip-hop conversations. Funkmaster Flex premiered this much-anticipated Watch The Throne banger on Hot 97 earlier this evening, and word bled into any Twitter convo you had. And it’s deserved. This is pure hip-hop. Creative use of classic sample material, loads of cocky braggadocio (‘Ye’s “sophisticated ignorance/I write my curses in cursive” line is an early winner), and a feeling of “this is important” permeates through the speakers. I won’t say who ate who on this — save that for the comments.

To put the capper on this, this is what @Evidence thinks of when he listens to “Otis”:

  3. I think I liked “The Joy” more, but maybe that’s because this is kinda short?
