FLüD watches is sponsoring a series of videos, highlighting legendary producers talking about their legacy, influences and methods. A cool way of marketing that we’ll probably only see more and more of in the future, as it creates a new way to get paid for the artists in an industry of dwindling music sales without selling out, while it allows a company to target their audience in a way that comes across as cool instead of obnoxious. And who still watches TV nowadays anyway, that’s that old screen with some sort of passive internet on it, right?
Regardless of intent or purposes, when we get a video like this out of it seems like a win for all parties, including us consumers and music lovers.
From the press release:
In this video with legendary producer, Lord Finesse, he talks about his crew DITC and their production techniques, and their keen ear for a particular sound when it came to listening for samples. The various producers within the crew created their own individual sound, while also garnering a unified sound that influenced and shaped the sound of hip hop for years to come. Lord Finesse recalls going to record conventions and spending $2000 – $3000 on records, looking for specific sounds to sample for his beats, while touching on some of his favorite current-day producers like Jake One, Nottz, DJ Spinna, and others.
Below is the first video in the series which was released a while ago and features Babu and J.Rocc.
