You know how every other rapper and his grandma is doing the weekly giveaway now since Kanye used it as an excellent promo-tool for MBDTF? GOOD Music Fridays alumni J. Cole decided to join the fray and has chosen Sunday as the day he’ll be handing out a gift to his fans. He made sure to stand out from the crowd by not releasing some random cutting room floor song but actually delivering a 5-track EP as the first volume in the series. Here’s what the liner notes have to say:

  • 1. Like A Star- Was saving this for the 2nd album. Due to some other shit beyond my control, I’ma let this out now.
  • 2. Knock On Wood- One of my fav. freestyles. OG Dreamvillains gotta be reminded, new fans gotta get put on.
  • 3. Pity- Brand new J. Cole, Omen, Voli. Produced by Voli @volitheentity
  • 4. How High- at one point this was guaranteed to go on The Sideline Story.
  • 5. Unabomber- Just heard this today for the first time in a longgg time. Love these raps.

Sidenote: Artwork for these internet releases often look like a rushjob, but I gotta hand to whoever did the cover for this thing, the shading in the font looks pretty darn cool.

1982 was when Jaap van der Doelen aka J.Monkey shot his way out his mom dukes. A mere two years later he was already battling Big Brother and The Illuminati. Whenever he has time to spare from those efforts he writes (about music, mostly), hosts a radio show and designs graphics for a living. He lives in The Netherlands where he continues to be winning.
