This is definitely a dope compilation in itself, and an excellent opportunity if you wanna quickly hear what some of the most interesting and eclectic hip-hop/funk/jazz indie labels have been up to lately. The kicker? It’s online right now for the amount of $0.00, so go ahead and give it a spin if you’re not afraid of something that doesn’t sound like somebody lost his nuts and hurled into a synthesizer while autotuning random sentences.

From the press release:
Label Love is an eclectic yet unified bundle of unique sounds compiled simply for the love of sharing them with the universe – each track plucked and presented by label heads from Decon Records, Fat Beats, One-Handed Music, Stones Throw, Tru Thoughts, Wah Wah 45s, and Wax Poetics.

Each label evokes its own signature giving this collection a diversified and interesting flow of genres. Label Love consists of nostalgic classics, unreleased gems, and exclusive selections with the goal of expanding minds to new musical styles.

1982 was when Jaap van der Doelen aka J.Monkey shot his way out his mom dukes. A mere two years later he was already battling Big Brother and The Illuminati. Whenever he has time to spare from those efforts he writes (about music, mostly), hosts a radio show and designs graphics for a living. He lives in The Netherlands where he continues to be winning.
