While freestyling at UIC, Lupe name-checked some important dudes just for the fuck of it.

“When you’re done Watching The Throne, turn around and watch me, when you’re done with the Carter 4 come back to me for more, when you’re done with that Drake, now I ain’t trying to hate but I’m back up on my grind and I’m about to skaaaaate on these ni**as!”

“Put it on your blog and your tumblrs on your twitters that Lupe said that he’s the best, NI**A.”

This isn’t that big of a deal, and I don’t see anyone getting their Hanes in a bunch over it. And if you don’t think he did this in part as a “fuck you” to hip-hop media, you’re mistaken.

In fact, I’m glad to see him feeling that competitive fire again. He’ll need that going into the next album.

    to me all black everything is just imitation dead prez, its not bad but between F&L and The Cool lupe fiasco was killin it, nothing on LASERS has the same artistic investment. i would trade the new pop sensible uninformed prostester lupe for the quirky artistic and nerdy lupe…till then i will stick to kanye west!!!
