Black Friday this year doesn’t strictly mean the culmination of consumer culture as we clamor to spend our money on the crumbs thrown to us to power-hungry multinational corporations, while we convince ourselves we’re actually saving our hard-earned cash, which is continually inflating in value, with the destructive fangs of capitalism reaching deep into our financial lifeblood to suck us dry of what we have left in order to feed the increasingly ferocious appetites of the remorseless 1% so they can continue to dwell in their ivory towers built on the bones of those they deem inconsequential and lazy and…

Sorry, I blacked out there for a second, where was I?

Oh yeah, Black Friday. Record Store Day is running a nice B-side to their event earlier this year. Besides other special releases on November 25th, The Black Keys will release a limited edition 12-inch of their new single, “Lonely Boy,” to participating indie music retailers. The pressing of this particular piece of vinyl actually runs from the inside to the outside of the groove so unless you’re able to play it backwards you’ll be stuck on some “Paul McCartney is dead” vibe. Assumedly this record is the first of it’s kind, The Black Keys note they have called the pressing plant themselves to ask “What hasn’t Jack White done yet?”

More info on Record Store Day can be found on the site. Below is a video for the A-side ‘Lonely Boy’ and the B-side ‘Run Right Back’ was premiered yesterday on Zane Lowe’s BBC radio show.

1982 was when Jaap van der Doelen aka J.Monkey shot his way out his mom dukes. A mere two years later he was already battling Big Brother and The Illuminati. Whenever he has time to spare from those efforts he writes (about music, mostly), hosts a radio show and designs graphics for a living. He lives in The Netherlands where he continues to be winning.
