It’s been a while since we’ve heard some new tunes by Somalia’s son. 2009’s ‘Troubadour’ was an album that got a lot of airplay over at the crib and do did his great ‘The Messengers’ project with J.Period, but the subsequent World Cup edit of ‘Wavin’ Flag’ in 2010 as well as his guest appearance on the inexplicably ubiquitous Keane single ‘Stop For A Minute’ left me with a not too pleasant syrupy taste in my mouth. Not that I mind seeing him get the shine he deserves, I’d just like to see him getting it with his more assertive and personally distinctive sounds than his crossover songs. Glad to hear he’s back on his own grind and brought Nas along for the ride on this track of his upcoming 5-track EP. Almost needless to say Nas adds another notch to his current winning streak. No losing to be found here.
