Seriously, May 15th can’t come fast enough. Killer Mike is a fantastic rapper, a smart man who can put forth well-argumented opinions with great eloquency, simultaneously blessed with a booming voice and just the right amount of agression to bring life to a track and give his choice of topics the heft they deserve. He’s like Cube on his fist for albums, if Cube would’ve grown up in ATL instead of LA.
Up ’til now, Mike has released some great tracks, but let’s face it, his full-length projects, while all quite good, have never lived up to their full potential. Siding with one producer behind the boards for a whole project heightens expectations, and when that producer is El-Producto said expectations start to skyrocket. If the whole album is on the level of its three leaked cuts we’re dealing with a top 10 of the year contender.
