A while back J. Cole released the track ‘Grew Up Fast’ to thank fans when he reached two million followers on Twitter, in it, he had a throwaway line to Rev Run’s young rapping son Diggy:
Move along cocksucker ain’t nothin to see
Unless you talkin blockbusters, you niggas is not Russell
You more Diggy – me I’m more Biggie
No diss to the young boy, I’m just rappin, get bored quickly
Though immediately suspecting the line could be perceived as a diss and setting the records straight within the verse itself, Diggy apparently was none too happy, especially over a line in that same verse that seems to imply something went down between Cole and his sister Vanessa:
What up Vanessa, I loved you that one semester
To which Diggy replied thusly:
“Who Dat? Who Dat?” You know who it is
Heard you lying on my sis, telling people that you hit
The reverend already weighed in and unsurprisingly has his son’s back on this:
J Cole.. Puts out 2 records Dissing family & Diggy & nobody cared.. Some1 leaks a old Diggy record & there’s a problem?

Of course, Cole could be talking about an entirely different Vanessa, but after talking about the scrappy Simmons sibling for half a verse it’s not weird people hear it as him adressing the boy’s sister. Cole’s song and Diggy’s diss ‘What You Say To Me’ are both up top. Listen and compare what will surely be the battle of the century. #sarcasm.
The young ‘un admirably repped the family honour though, we’ll see how this develops.
