Something From Nothing: The Art Of Rap is a documentary directed by Ice-T about rap’s heritage and what makes the greatest lyricists tick. As an OG with multiple decades in the game under his belt, Ice has built an impressive rolodex. Couple that with his Hollywood connections as an actor and he seems like the perfect to make this a movie both serious and fun. The trailer (seen below) looks good and reactions at press screening yesterday evening sound positive.

Sundance liked it enough to schedule it, something Ice-T, in the featurette above, sees as a victory in itself. And he’s right, it would’ve been unbelievable for that too happen in the ’90s or earlier. In the video Ice M.F. T further explains his motivations and ideas for creating the movie. we’ll be able to judge for ourselves if he succeeded when it arrives in theaters June 15.
