Jazz drummer and hip-hop producer Kariem Riggins is a versatile musician. Having worked with artists like The Roots, Common, Talib Kweli, Madlib (as Supreme Team), Slum Village, Paul McCartney, Diana Krall, Oscar Peterson and Donald Byrd he racked up a Curriculum Vitae that would be the envy of many other musicians. But solo material has been sparse so far. That will change on October 23 when Stones Throw will release the 24-track instrumental album Alone Together, and album that aims to merge a Gretsch drum kit, the Fender Rhodes and an MPC3000 into a jazz/hip-hop hybrid wholly Kariem’s own.
The sudden ending to this taster titled ‘Moogy Foog It’ certainly leaves yours truly wanting more, can’t wait for the other 33!
