That Grape Juice spoke with Aaliyah’s uncle and manager to the rights of her estate Barry Hankerson about the controversial posthumous album. The one some YMCMB fellas are part of but Missy and Timbaland aren’t.

Barry: We always expected an unpleasant welcome this album. Due to the fact we have control over the estate and authoritative over royalties we will be moving forward with this album.

We never wanted the bad press that’s come with the album. The family might of (sic) made statements about us not supporting their “daughter” but the fan support and peaceful intent behind it is the reason we’ve decided to go forth with it.

Right. Who the hell are all these family members and musicians she actually worked with to think they know anything about Aaliyah or her music, huh Barry? Shame on them for giving you bad press when they were unceremoniously sidestepped, now they’re even messing with your peaceful intent to wrangle more bucks out of what’s probably already a lucrative heritage.

I don’t personally know any of these people involved but this statement just reeks from all angles. Money talks though.
